3R Thursday is all about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  These posts will show you ways to implement these 3Rs into YOUR lifestyle!

This week I want to introduce to an awesome resource on recycling for those of you who live in the NW Suburbs of Chicago.  It’s the Schaumburg Township Library’s blog: Come to the Green Side.

While posts are not made to this blog daily, it is still a really good idea to subscribe to the RSS or Email feeds to get news as it happens. Last week there was a “Shred Event” at the library where people could come and have their personal papers shredded.  For those who do not have a shredder or have way too much to shred – what a blessing!

Besides news of events or recent happenings in the recycling world, this blog is a great resource for information in your own village.  You will find information on

  • Neighborhood clean-ups
  • Gardening tips
  • How and where to dispose of hazardous and medical waste
  • Where to recycle building materials
  • a list of area consignment/resale shops
  • And more!

There are even county recycling guides for Cook, Lake, McHenry and DuPage counties that direct you to even MORE information.  This is an absolute GOLDMINE.

Recycling is not just for paper and plastics. There is no reason for most items to go to landfills and you can help!
